Job Description

Mobile Retro-Reflectivity Unit Project Administrator 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 1 UNF Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32224 Department Mechanical Engineering Compensation $62,000.00 to Negotiable Annual General Summary/Primary Purpose Position provides engineering assistance for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in support of the Pavement Marking Management (PMM) program. The PMM program uses Mobile Retro-reflectivity Units (MRUs) on a statewide basis assessing the safety and night-time pavement striping visibility level of in-service pavement markings. Job Functions Mobile Retro-Reflectivity Unit Project Administrator requires a highly motivated and organized employee to complete the following high-level tasks: Schedules and coordinates the field operations and activities, including maintenance of traffic with other District Offices and Consultants. Performs data processing using proper software, storage, and analysis. Prepares detailed engineering reports on findings. Ensures the prompt calibration and maintenance of the testing vehicle and related equipment and that all activities are properly and promptly planned, documented, filed and communicates with District and Contractor personnel. Continuous evaluation and improvement of the Mobile Retro-Reflectivity Unit hardware and software. Provide technical reports transforming data into information. Departmental Qualifications Experience working with Original Equipment Manufacturers is considered a plus. Perform pavement marking reflectivity data collections, processing, and reporting. Quality Assurance/Quality Control of test data. Excellent communications skills, encompassing both technical writing and interpersonal interactions. Organized and initiative-taking. Testing and assessment of MRU and other pavement evaluation technology. Data entry and quality review experience. Operation of motor vehicle in the performance of their duties. Ensuring the testing equipment is always kept, calibrated, and functional. Specific computer skills include MS Office, Python, and SQL. Basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot equipment. Skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and collaborating effectively with team members or working independently to achieve shared goals. Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance. Location This position is located in the Pavement Section of the FDOT State Materials Office in Gainesville, FL 5007 NE 39TH Avenue, Gainesville, FL, 32609 (In-person required)

Required Qualifications:

This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.
