General Purpose of Job To operate information processing terminals, as required, for particular requests for information on each diligent search referral received. Including, but is not limited to, running local law enforcements checks, checking records maintained by the Lexus Nexus, Department of Corrections, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and checking Department of Children and Families agency records, Family Safety services, and other services provided through the Department of Children and Families. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs Criminal/Civil Background Searches in accordance with Chapters 39, 65, 435, and DCF Policy. Reviews information from FCIC (Florida Crime Information Center) and DJJS (Department of Juvenile Justice Information System) background screening results to determine if further information is needed and follows through on necessary action such as contacting law enforcement agencies for booking reports, State Attorneys, and clerks of court for criminal and civil trial information and other similar data which clarifies information on the background screening. Determines the screening level requirements for each of the 10 individual types of requests based on type, case manager contact, DCF policy & FL Statutes. Facilitates live scan fingerprinting for all prospective caregivers, newly hired staff, 5-year employee rescreens, and any other parties who may require background screening in relationship to their role within the child welfare system. Availability to conduct fingerprinting before/after business hours and on weekends to expedite placement of children in emergency shelter status. Receive and upload all fingerprint results for Circuit 13. Send follow-up as need to appropriate staff. Conduct Lexus Nexus searches for missing or unknown parents and family members and upload all results to the appropriate file. Maintains liaison and information sharing with other approved agencies. Maintains ongoing information exchange and acts as a liaison with local, state, and judicial agencies to enhance the goals and outcome measures for the agency Contacts county, state, national & international law enforcement divisions to discuss and obtain the appropriate information, when clarification of criminal charges, adjudication or court docket progress is needed. Other duties may be assigned as special projects may be requested. Working Hours CNHC’s believes in work life balance for all employees. This is an in-office position, Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm averaging forty (40) hours per week. Working hours may vary based on business needs. Travel Travel in and outside of Circuit 13 (Hillsborough County) is required. Training All employees must complete fifteen (15) hours of on-line or classroom Training on an annual basis. If the employee is a Certified Child Welfare Professional, Training hours must total twenty (20) annually. Supervisory Responsibilities This job does not have supervisory responsibilities. Education and Experience Associates Degree required; Bachelor Degree preferred Three years’ computer work experience required. Paralegal or Criminal Justice knowledge preferred. Strong organizational skills and problem-solving abilities is a must; and Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships is also a must. Skills and Abilities Must be able to operate standard modern office machinery, computer, scanner, printer, copier, and mail machine. Excellent word processing skills. Must be competent with Microsoft Office Suite programs, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Must be competent with basic e-mail protocol and procedures including sending, receiving, replying, attachments, and meeting scheduling; excellent written and oral communication skills; effective listening skills; ability to work as a team member, and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Must possess excellent organizational skills and abide by the highest standards of confidentiality. Pre-employment Requirements Certificates, License, Registrations, backgrounds, drug screens, Etc. Valid driver’s license, clean driver’s license check, and proof of insurance is required No special certification or registration is required for this position Criminal background screening (Fingerprinting~ Local Law Enforcement /FBI / FDLE, and Abuse Registry) Drug Screening is a requirement Children’s Network participates in E-Verify Other Requirements Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, board of directors, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
