Bureau of Historic Preservation Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications:

Four years of experience working in a publicly engaged environment, administrative position, or in one or more of the related fields, or a bachelor’s degree in planning, economic development, public administration, communications, political science, historic preservation, or a related field
Experience with data collection, analysis and Excel spreadsheets. Skilled in social media environments – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.

Experience with public speaking, training, and webinars
Experience with event planning
Experience with long range planning and implementation
Experience working with individuals with varying skill levels
Experience drafting press releases, media materials, and public documents
Experience producing simple graphics, logos and flyers using Canva, Photoshop, etc.
Experience with Geographic Information Systems and ArcView software or similar programs
Knowledge of comprehensive plans and local ordinances
Two years of experience in a state or local Main Street program

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the management of the Florida Main Street program through planning significant program events, managing program records, and providing technical assistance to member communities.

Duties include:

Participating in multi-day travel to assist Coordinator in organizing quarterly meetings, annual conference, and all other programs.
Assisting with conference planning, including coordinating with other organizations. Updating all Florida Main Street documents on a regular basis, including paper and digital files, databases, and spreadsheets.
Assisting the Coordinator in providing technical assistance to the local Main Street communities.
Assisting in conducting community evaluations for Main Street accreditation.
Coordinating production of brochures and pamphlets and preparing mass mailings.
Ensuring all information is current on the Florida Main Street website.
Serving as the primary point of contact for the Main Street Program while the coordinator is away from the office.
Submitting announcements to the Florida Administrative Register as deemed necessary by 1A-36, Florida Administrative Code and the Department.
Answering phones and replying to general email correspondence.
Reviewing deliverables from vendors/consultants.
Work with communities on community involvement and strategic planning efforts.
Work with Executive Directors and Board of Directors to achieve program effectiveness.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of the Main Street Program. Ability to plan, organize, and carry out complex projects. Ability to collect, analyze, and present data. Skilled in digital communications, including using social media. Skilled in Microsoft Office suite of programs. Ability to work independently to organize and manage workload. Ability to learn new skills. Ability to conduct overnight travel.
