JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL

An employee in this position performs skilled clerical work in maintain accurate student records and assisting the guidance department with the various types of work performed in a position allocated to this class.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a standard high school or equivalency diploma. Computer skills. Ability to communicate effective with others. Ability to communicate effectively with others in writing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to perform skilled clerical duties which involves maintaining accurate student cumulative folders; filing numerous documents in the cumulative folders; maintaining student records; assisting the Guidance Counselor on facilitating all clerical work associated with the Guidance Department. Ability to complete multiple assigned tasks in a timely manner. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to access, input and retrieve compute information. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of computers. General typing/keyboarding.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule appointments for the guidance counselor. Maintain a log of students that consult with the guidance counselor. Work with registrar to register/withdraw students. Act as receptionist for the guidance department. Set up and confirm parent conferences. Set up new student records. File all folders and confidential materials relating to the department. Type referral forms for the social worker. Assist with clerical duties related to discipline. Assist in preparation for readiness and academic testing. Initiate and prepare paperwork for Exception Student Education (ESE) staff and English Speakers of Languages (ESOL) screening referrals. Assist other clerical workers with updated information. Perform related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work – required to push, pull or lift 25 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, or 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activities require sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, repetitive motion, hearing acuity and visual acuity.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
