Permit Coordinator Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Permit Coordinator responsible for managing the permit application process, ensuring accuracy and completeness in submissions, and providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Examine permit applications and documents to determine project scope and necessary permits, initiating the plan review process through the software system. Assess revisions or amendments to existing applications, ensuring completeness and initiating the modified plan review process. Address inquiries from developers, architects, and property owners, providing information on permit procedures and policies through electronic, verbal, and in-person communication. Guide and assist customers in operating the system and resolving issues. Perform data entry and maintain required files, including scanning and archiving documents. Review and process permit applications and plans necessary for issuing construction permits. Conduct sufficiency reviews for various submittal applications, such as Alternative Materials & Methods requests and Temporary Certificate of Occupancy requests. Estimate fees for customers and collect payments when necessary. Welcome and assist customers, answering questions about departmental policies and procedures related to permits. Essential Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs and advanced computer keyboard functions. Knowledge of International Code Council standards. Strong data entry and record-keeping techniques. Understanding of division’s organization, procedures, and operating details. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficient in English with clear and articulate communication skills.
