Job Summary:

The Attendance Clerk is responsible for maintaining a high degree of attendance accuracy and accountability that is an essential function of this position. This position will manage the flow of attendance information within the school and is tasked with maintaining all school attendance records. The Attendance Clerk must be flexible, personable, and able to communicate and support the school’s mission and vision and demonstrate companywide core values. The Attendance Clerk works as a part of the administrative team in order to meet the needs of all students. Building relationships is a critical component of this learning environment, the team works together to identify student needs that may be barriers to success. The Attendance Clerk collaborates with team members to analyze different means of meeting the needs of the school and students, and communicates with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plans for next steps.

Essential Attendance Clerk Responsibilities:

Responsible for recording, tracking, and following up with students and parents regarding attendance and all attendance initiatives; Support teachers in accurately entering and/or verifying daily student attendance in the school’s Student Information System. Use proper telephone etiquette and direct calls appropriately to school staff; Work closely and effectively with the Principal (and/or Asst. Principal, Attendance & Welfare Coordinator) to implement attendance policy; Maintain master classrooms’ daily attendance record binders with all students’ attendance information; Maintain the school’s Parent Contact Log/Tracker to document all attendance contact efforts; Using proper telephone etiquette, conduct daily phone calls, to parent or guardians of absent students; Ensure that attendance emails are sent to parents or guardians of absent students ; Ensure that the 3,5,7 and 10 day attendance letters are mailed out in accordance with the school’s attendance policy; Ensure “I Miss You” postcards are mailed to parents or guardians of absent students; Demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and perseverance in dealing with students and parents or guardians as related to attendance; Remain attentive, patient, and fair with students and parents,; Provide needed assistance and communicate effectively with Principal and all staff; Become knowledgeable about EdisonLearning as well as the school community; be familiar with key EdisonLearning personnel, school board members and/or district personnel; Create and maintain an organized and efficient work space or office that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, professionalism, courtesy, flexibility, and teamwork; Under the supervision of a qualified teacher assist with paperwork and clerical duties as needed; Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Dean of Academics.
