Full Job Description Position Summary:

Dynamic opportunity to change lives! This unique position works with the families and volunteers in our program, supporting the enrollment of clients and volunteers. They guide volunteers and families to ensure long-term, caring relationships between matches while focusing on positive outcomes for youth. This is a part time position of 20 hours a week (Monday-Friday during regular business hours) with opportunity for growth.

Essential Responsibilities, Competencies & Behaviors:

Handle volunteer and youth inquiries, ensuring that application and information are sent out in a timely manner. Refer families to programs outside the agency when appropriate or when youth does not fit agency guidelines. Assist in establishing rapport with schools, churches, colleges, corporations, or any other group providing forms and information to counselors, teachers, company recruiters, etc. Conduct the application process of potential volunteers and youth in a timely manner according to policies and procedures including background screenings, references, and school inquiries. Assist with scheduling Match Support and Assessments, as requested. Send out surveys to volunteers and families . Document information in database (MatchForce). Maintain youth and volunteer files in a secure location, keeping both up to date. Responsible for initial data entry of client and volunteer information. Enter all case management information into national database, MatchForce. Communicate openly with all stakeholders in a manner that is productive, respectful, and sensitive to diversity. Engage and steward volunteers throughout enrollment and match relationship. Provide on-going resources to families and volunteers including, but not limited to: crisis intervention and referrals for counseling; advocacy; information and referrals to access resources and problem resolution. Return calls and emails promptly and follow through with commitments Assist with group match meetings, match events, and coordination of services Assist with fundraising and recruitment efforts Other duties that may be assigned by the Management Team.

Qualifications:

We are seeking a candidate with a strong belief in the mission and vision of Big Brothers Big Sisters, as well as the following:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma. Ideal candidates possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University
  • 3+ years of experience working with children in a social services, office management, or customer service environment.
  • Cultural competency and ability to work sensitively with confidential information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently, to exercise good judgment, make sound decisions, and problem solve.
  • Collaborative work style with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A strong commitment to quality and results.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, state-required auto insurance minimums and willingness to travel locally as necessitated by job responsibilities.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours (some very rare evenings and/or weekends with advance notice, 1-4 times a year).
  • Strong preference given to candidates having current or previous experience with any Big Brothers Big Sisters agency and experience with MatchForce or Salesforce software.
