Position Summary
The department secretary provides clerical and administrative support for the Nurse Manager and Clinician/Clinical Nurse Specialist. In addition, the department secretary performs general clerical and administrative duties for the specific nursing unit or service line.

Core Job Functions
Schedules meetings with co-workers and maintains manager’s calendar. Assist with departmental meetings and presentations. Facilitates communication to staff timely via appropriate delivery method.
Maintains department co-worker files with appropriate forms and current documentation. Maintains all department manuals, policies and procedures with current information. Maintains all required records for patient care as dictated by policy.
Verifies monthly account statements and sends to appropriate personnel for approval and payment. Meets and exceeds operations budget expectations through prudence of human resources and supplies/ equipment. Facilitates system/ department in obtaining appropriate reimbursement and revenue.
Collects and enters ongoing performance improvement, nurse sensitive indicators, tracers, statistics, and data. Bulletin board updated with current information.
Processes biweekly time records for each co-worker in accordance with hospital policy and performs daily maintenance. Maintains confidentiality of co-worker time records. Notifies nurse manager of trends related to clocking in and out, overtime, attendance and punctuality.
