SUMMARY
Reports to the principal; assists in the operation of the school by fulfilling the duties and performing tasks assigned by the principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops performance objectives and prepares a Professional Growth Plan supporting school, department and school system goals.
Makes progress toward achieving objectives in the Professional Growth Plan.
Prepares a self-evaluation as described in the Performance Evaluation Plan.
The principal will prepare a list of specific duties and tasks assigned to the administrative assistant. That list will become a part of this job description.
Coordinates activities related to discipline, parent/teacher conferences, student conferences, in-school suspension and after-school detention
Administers student attendance procedures.
Coordinates the school’s transportation, custodial, child nutrition and/or school security operations.
Assists with registration and scheduling of students.
Serves as business manager and/or athletic coordinator.
Administers and/or assists with applying school operating procedures, maintaining equipment inventories and obtaining school supplies.
Serves as coordinator or administrator of academic programs such as LEAP, SEMS, testing and others.
Coordinates inservice activities and teaching resource acquisition.
Assists in counseling students in a specific grade level or other school setting.
Handles communications and contacts with students, parents, visitors and print and electronic media representatives.
Administers magnet school recruitment, admission procedures and registration.
Coordinates campus visits by college students, faculty members, community partners and others.
Coordinates school-wide activities such as :graduation activities, ArtBreak, book exchanges and school rallies.
Schedules field trips, special events and other school related activities
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of successful teaching experience; should meet Louisiana requirements for a teaching certificate.

Ability to plan, organize and oversee the work of the school staff.
Ability to work tactfully and harmoniously with schools, staff, parents and/or the public.
Ability to hold records, reports and conversations in confidence.
Encourages cooperation between teachers and parents in order to ensure a professional instructional climate for students.
Physical stamina and emotional stability to work effectively under pressure and to keep all aspects of the job under control
Exhibits professionalism in dealing with all members of the staff.
Neat, well-groomed appearance.
