SUMMARY OF POSITION
Supervises all secretarial and clerical work done in a principal’s office
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; One (1) year of office experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other additional duties/responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent may be assigned.
- Prepares and types reports, letters, inventories, tests, memoranda, and related documents from rough draft, clear copy, or notes
- Maintains all necessary files for the office or school
- Receives, opens, sorts, and distributes mail
- Handles incoming and outgoing telephone calls
- Supervises and trains other clerical personnel when necessary
- Composes letters and completes reports for the signature of the supervisor
- Communicates with students, parents, staff, and the general public in person, by phone, or through written correspondence
- Maintains proper bookkeeping systems pertaining to budget as well as incoming and outgoing monies; may prepare bank deposits and write checks
- Prepares and routes vendor and purchase orders
- Communicates with other departments and schools by telephone and written communication
- May administer first aid and authorized medications to students as needed
- Maintains office or school supply inventories
- Maintains current telephone listings
- Attends meetings and takes notes of minutes when required
- Assists with budget preparation and completion of financial statements
- Maintains supervisor’s appointment calendar and serves as receptionist as needed
- Maintains records pertaining to and assists in such matters as enrollment, attendance, employee leave, and records as required
