Wages:
$20.00 per hour The Town of Middleborough Finance Committee is seeking applicants for a Recording Secretary. The Recording Secretary is responsible for the creation and filing of minutes that accurately reflect the date, time, location, and content of the Finance Committee, which convenes on a routine basis monthly and on a weekly basis during the months of January, February, and March. The Finance Committee consists of seven (7) elected officials who typically meet on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm at the Middleborough Town Hall, 10 Nickerson Avenue.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides minutes that accurately set forth the date, time, place, and events of the meeting, including a record of all actions taken and any votes that may have occurred.
- Accurately summarize discussions and provide enough detail for members of the public who did not attend the meeting to understand what occurred and how the public body arrived at its decision.
- Include a list of all documents and other exhibits used by the public body during the meeting as part of the official record of the session.
- Mandatory attendance at nightly meetings.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform work independently.
- Exercises mature judgment, maintains confidentiality, and makes responsible decisions.
- Ensures approval of the minutes promptly.
- Submits all meeting minutes to the Town Clerk as required under the Open Meeting Law and per the municipal retention schedule.
- Performs other related job duties as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Recording Secretary, Administrative Assistant, or Clerical position preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong written and communication skills.
