If so, the Secretary Associate position with the Division Of Vocational Rehabilitation may be a great job for you! The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, also known as “VR,” is a Department of Labor program that helps people who have disabilities to find and keep a job. VR helps people who have physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. We are currently seeking a Secretary Associate to join our central office Primary responsibilities include: + Completes clerical tasks including answering phones, letter writing, data entry, filing, and electronic case file management. + Processes payments and manages ordering of supplies. + Serves as a designated procurement cardholder. + Answers and directs phone calls from a variety of stakeholders. + Maintains personnel files. + Develops and recommends new work methods and administrative policies/procedures to improve existing work practices. + Research, compiles, and analyzes complex information to reach a conclusion and/or make recommendations. + Advises supervisor regarding the work/operations and acts as “troubleshooter”.
Skills or knowledge required:
+ Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. + Flexibility and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work well as a member of a team. + Excellent prioritization, organization and time management skills. + Detail-oriented documentation. + Knowledge of current software and office systems + Ability to develop and recommend new work methods and administrative policies/procedures. + Ability to use discretion and judgment in dispensing information.
Minimum qualifications:
Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of office processes and administrative functions to perform complex secretarial support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and discretion to make determinations on varied matters. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Secretary.
