Overview
The Assistant Superintendent, Test Support Center is a supervisory role leading the Test Support Center team that supports all new construction test and activation operations at BIW. Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), this position provides centralized support services to the Hull Test Managers and Trades executing the test program on their assigned hulls, oversees the lockout and tags-plus (LO/TP) program and LO/TP Coordinators, leads sea trial preparations and trials coordination in-port and at-sea, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards within the Test Support Center team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the execution of:
Test Procedure Compliance and Audit Program
Test procedure library administration including maintenance and configuration management of test process documentation
Test metrics and BOS Dashboard maintenance
Test Center Administration and record retention
LO/TP (aka, Red Tag) Program administration and oversight of LO/TP Coordinator team
Launch and sea trial coordination and support
Tracking of qualifications for test personnel and trial watch standers
Trials Watchbill coordination
CAM POC duties for
OBS 1500
material accounts
Root cause analysis and problem resolution
Responsibilities
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduate BIW Apprentice or PDP preferred
Bachelors degree preferred; technical field strongly preferred
Qualifications
Required:
Minimum of 5 years production/shipyard/marine-related experience required
Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, and with proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment required
Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to work and communicate cross functionally and with all levels of customers inside and outside the Company required
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage conflict required
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
Ability to lead test and activation teams in shipyard and shipboard at-sea environments
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite required
Preferred:
Shipyard test and trials experience preferred
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Demonstrated understanding of shipbuilding processes preferred
Proficiency with SharePoint and/or JIRA is preferred
Solid understanding of BIW labor agreement and/or experience working with represented employees preferred
Experience with Earned Value Management System preferred
BIW Lockout and tags-plus (LO/TP) program experience preferred
Marine or industrial experience with OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy processes preferred
