About the Agency The Mississippi State Department of Health’s mission is to protect and advance the health, well-being, and safety of everyone in Mississippi. Questions about this position can be directed to recruitment@msdh.ms.gov. About the Position This position functions as a WIC Clerk Aid. Greets, and imputs personal information from participants desiring WIC Certification. They obtain anthropometric measurements from participants for WIC certifications and Midcerts. They call all participants for daily appointments and follow up on missed appointments. This person would award some WIC benefits based on participants status and need. The WIC Clerk answers WIC phones to help participants and forward to WIC Nutritionists as necessary. WIll do community outreach to help bring in more WIC participants. Screens infants & children for current immunization. Prepares WIC end of the month reports. Always displays appropriate customer service skills. Performs other duties assigned by the WIC Nutritionist Supervisor or the Nutritionist Team Lead. Agency Preferred Qualifications. phlebotomist skills are helpful but not required. Need excellent computer skills•able to access web portals for information verification (Miix, Mesa), Microsoft Office Tools, MS WIC App, WIC Health.org, TAVOCA, DocuSign, online Leave program Skilled at office machines•scannter, printer, FAX Need to have excellent people and children skills Need to be organized and able to multi-task Must be skilled at empathizing with the participants needing WIC. Desire to work and help all people; desire to evolve in a fast-paced work environment and work with a team to get participants seen and WIC certification completed. Must be empathetic, yet abide by WIC policies and procedures. Must be able to multi-task, adapt to a changing schedule quickly, and be organized at paperwork, and participant follow-up. Need a desire to outreach to the public on WIC’s behalf to pull in more participants. Must have a calm demeanor even when participants are angry or upset, children are crying or refusing to cooperate. Be timely in all aspects of work & participant service. Display ability to keep all participant information confidential & records secure. Complete and apply all training required by
