JOB GOALS
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office’s maximum positive impact on the education of students can be realized.
To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public, staff, parents and students.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Proficient in secretarial skills of typing, filing, office procedures, operation of office equipment and machines, and computer functions.
Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication.
Ability to work with staff, students and the public in a professional manner.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO
Principal.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
(These responsibilities may be divided between or among secretaries as building needs vary)
Performs routines usually associated with a busy, efficient and productive office.
Maintains and disseminates such student records as shall be required, including attendance reports and register information.
Receives and routes all incoming calls.
Serves as secretary for the principal.
Maintains a daily attendance log and handles other reports and records for substitute teachers.
Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.
Organizes student rosters, locator files, and the like as needed.
Welcomes visitors and assists them as needed.
Performs other tasks such as monitoring a bell schedule, receiving and processing mail, placing phone calls, securing needed information as the principal directs.
Keeps records of financial transactions using the bookkeeping system designated by the principal.
Handles deposits, receipts, and properly records all cash received by the school or its staff.
Receives and processes all textbooks, instructional supplies, instructional equipment, etc.
Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student and staff information.
Maintains high standards, ethical behavior and confidentiality of student issues.
Exemplifies strong work ethics and professionalism (i.e. promptness, attendance and professional dress).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The salary and length of contract shall be established by the Board of Education.
