What we are looking for We are seeking a seasoned administrative assistant to join our small church office team. Ideally this person would share our desire and enthusiasm for creating the best experience for our congregational members, pastoral staff, and guests, and possess a deep faith in Christ. As the first point of contact the administrative assistant reflects the church and should always honor and present this image, exemplifying our beliefs and mission. The administrative assistant will take on many responsibilities in our church’s daily operations and is the frontline of the Church Ministry. This position reports directly to the Pastor, Church Administration Committee, and the President of the Church Council. In this role, you would be responsible for handling inquiries and concerns with courtesy and professionalism throughout the day. You will perform various clerical and general office functions to support organizational goals, ensure effectiveness, and contribute to efficiency. The following is a list of essential functions inherent in the job and are not all inclusive: Receive and greet visitors Answer telephone calls and inquiries in a courteous manner Draft email correspondence regarding prayer requests, death notices, and other church business Maintain files and records including the History Room Prepare necessary items for New Members, Confirmation, Baptisms Coordinate funeral services Provide support to Pastor, Council President, Committee chairs, Family Ministries coordinator, and congregation as needed Update and maintain church calendar Assemble monthly newsletter and distribute to church members Type and print bulletins for worship service Assist with Council meeting agenda, keep up to date copies of minutes Coordinate all maintenance, and schedule service technicians as needed Keep abreast of any changes in the Congregation and inform the Pastor General office administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, printing, inventory and receiving shipments of office supplies Qualifications Must be a professing believer in Jesus Christ by being active and faithful in attendance to their local church High School Diploma or General Education Degree required Strong written and verbal communication skills Highly organized and detail oriented Ability to manage multiple priorities with ease Proficient with computer standard productivity software, having the ability to learn and master church management software, practical knowledge of Mac desktop A desire and willingness to help others with an attitude of service Must be able to pass a criminal background check If you are a reliable individual that thrives on self-motivation and a stable environment and want to be a part of a welcoming church family, we would love to hear from you!
