Lexington General Statement of Duties Performs responsible technical and administrative work in the Library Administration Offices. Distinguishing Features of the Class An employee in this class is responsible for performing administrative support functions including financial, data entry and clerical. Work is performed under regular supervision of the Library Director. Illustrative Examples of Work

  • Assists Library Director with preparing annual budget for fiscal year; gathers budget information from library divisions and compiles figures and data necessary to project fiscal year expenditures by using computer data, data from vendors, and equipment/supply lists.
  • Performs general clerical duties (i.e. typing emails, receiving calls, and copying).
  • Submits work orders to IT concerning malfunctions and/or significant hardware/software problems.
  • Compiles information, performs data entry on statistics for the State Report and files report electronically.
  • Research, prepare and submit grants as needed. Maintain, prepare and submit grant reports, evaluations and purchasing of equipment for grants.
  • Adheres to the departments’ safety rules and regulations. Acts as Safety Coordinator for Library Annex performing monthly safety inspections. Represents Library System on County Safety Committee.
  • Provides safety trainings as needed.
  • Compiles information and completes various surveys for the Library System.
  • Coordinates E-Rate program for Library System.
  • Maintains the supply budget
  • Performs other related duties as required. Recruitment and Selection Guidelines Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of office administrative and clerical duties.
  • Ability to assemble facts, figures and statistics for budgetary purposes and local, state and national reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with IT, State Library personnel, coworkers, vendors, other departments and the general public. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting, operate a computer terminal and perform extensive reading.
  • Worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Education and Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited two year college and or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid North Carolina Driver License
