Negotiable Position Summary:

The Church Financial Secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential financial records for the church. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with financial policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Works is essential for this position. Will train on Church Data Master (Church Software)

Principal Duties:

Financial Record Keeping Organize and record collection of church receipts and expenses. Prepare monthly, annual and other financial reports as needed by Session and other Ministries. Act as an agent of the Corporation.

Accounts Management:

Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and receipts. Reconcile bank statements and financial accounts monthly.

Payroll Processing:

Prepare and process payroll for church staff, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and timely payments. File necessary payroll tax reports and maintain employee payroll records.

Financial Reporting:

Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for church leadership. Assist in the preparation of the church s annual budget with Ministry of Stewardship.

Compliance and Confidentiality:

Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations and church policies. Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.

Qualifications:

Education and experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferable in a nonprofit or church setting.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Microsoft 365; Microsoft Outlook, use of adding machine.

Personal Attributes:

Strong attention to detail and organization. Ability to work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment of confidentiality and ethical financial practices.
