Work is performed under the general direction of the Administrative Manager. Continuous supervision is exercised over Eligibility Specialists. Responsibilities Use variety of automated office systems to establish, retrieve, verify, research, update, and/or authorize processing actions. Complete and verify documentation. Identify and resolve problems for clients. Maintain and manage statistical, financial, and/or other recordkeeping files Receive and provide information to the public Supervise employees in the Fees and Eligibility Unit Interview and obtain financial, medical, medical insurance information, and personal data from patients. Conduct financial interview with patients to qualify out-of-pocket responsibility based on sliding fee scale eligibility. Capture a variety of patient consents during the financial interview Conduct financial interview to determine prenatal client’s qualification for Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility (MPE) Accesses a variety of medical insurance plans via telephone calls or plans’ portals to verify insurance coverage Communicate with Department of Social Services to verify client’s Medicaid coverage and follow up on MPE applications Collect payment from and provide receipt to patients Assign task to employees to keep business running smoothly Assist clinical staff with creating scheduling templates in EHR Motivates employees to succeed and improve in order to bring customer service to a higher level Explore opportunities to add value to the agency and recommend changes to Administrative Manager Assist Administrative Manager as necessary Facilitates communication among individuals, groups and organizations Supports individuals and team in engaging in professional development by identifying training opportunities and encourage peer-to-peer learning Implements a shared vision to motivate staff with adjusted needs of the agency Engages staff in the change process by seeking input, listening to concerns and keep staff informed. Use methods and tools for collecting data Serve as the Agency HIPAA Privacy/Security Officer Serves as the Agency’s Health Information Exchange/Health Connex point of contact Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications Substantive knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practices. Substantive knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, proofreading, and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports, and materials. Substantive knowledge of accounting procedures, applicable mathematics, and their application in the work environment. Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Considerable ability to record, compile, summarize and analyze data. Considerable ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions, or compliance with applicable laws, rules, or regulations. Considerable ability to analyze work situations and interpret program content in making decisions and explaining policies, regulations, and programs. Considerable ability to exercise judgment, discretion, and negotiation skills in problem situations. Ability to learn, interpret and explain policies, regulations, and programs. Ability to independently respond to inquiries and coordinate a variety of resources in acquiring and disseminating information. Ability to train and manage a group of employees Associates/Technical degree with coursework in secretarial science or business administration, or related field and moderate experience as an office assistant or secretary, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market consideration.

$47,385.73 – $61,601.49 per year
