By Morehead’s 50th anniversary in 1999, more than five million spectators

Morehead expanded its mission in 2000, becoming not only a gateway to the stars, but a gateway to all the sciences. Today, its programming reflects the expanded mission to help people better understand science, technology, and health through state-of-the-art full dome planetarium shows, exhibits, camps, hands-on classes, and statewide outreach programming. In 2020, Morehead completed a $9M renovation that expanded its exhibit space which now includes more than 6,000 square feet of exhibit space that highlight a range of science disciplines.

Position Summary Program Support:

Assist with the coordination and administration of the Saunders Science Scholars program for their College Tour Week. Staying overnight with the scholars and supporting them during the week.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Job requirements include: Excellent organization Strong communication skills Ability to work independently yet ask for feedback and clarification when needed Valid NC Driver License Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience working with high school students from underrepresented communities. Enthusiasm about being part of a fostering, inclusive and engaging learning environment for all visitors. Special Physical/Mental Requirements Moderate physical effort is required. Counselors may spend time teaching inside and outside (based on camp activities). Prolonged periods of time will also be spent outside during pick up and drop off periods.
