Accounting Full Job Description Description of Work Recruitment Range:
$35,984 to $49,477 This position is funded in part through federal funds. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state and has over 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all North Carolinians. The Division of Social Services provides direct services that address issues of poverty, family violence and exploitation. We aim to prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable citizens, and promote self-reliance and self-sufficiency for individuals and families. Title IV, Part D of the Social Security Act, the Child Support Services Section within the Division of Social Services establishes administrative procedures and financial accountability for core services: 1) Location of the Non-Custodial Parent; 2) Establishment of Paternity; 3) Establishment of Support Obligation; 4) Collection of Support Payments; and 5) Enforcement of Support Obligation. This position operates within the Central Office Financial Operations unit which is responsible for the financial functions within the child support program to support all 100 counties. Child Support collects approximately $710 million dollars per year in child support payments to be disbursed to approximately 378,000 parents in Child Support and Clerk of cases. The primary purpose of this position is to accurately review, verify, process and manage electronic payments for other state agencies, employers, complete direct deposit and debit card authorizations, reinstatements and termination request for child support custodial parents. This position is a backup for the Automated Collections and Tracking System (ACTS) balancing. This position provides customer service support to all child support custodial parents, local child support system users, Central Office, Customer Service Center, other state and federal agencies.
