On-Site Overview:

The Support Staff Specialist has the opportunity to work on an array of general member benefit support functions. Candidates should be open to taking on new challenges and assignments within the department. This position is for those seeking a professional work environment within a team committed to meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and within member benefit standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist in the daily administration of Member Benefits programs by preparing, processing, and reviewing program-related data files, billing records, and routine documentation. Support the accurate collection and reconciliation of payment activity, including the posting of transactions, preparation of deposit summaries, and generation of remittance files. Maintain accurate member information through data entry and updates to program records and databases. Respond to routine inquiries from NYSUT members, school district or pension system contacts, group representatives, and endorsed vendors. Organize and maintain both physical and electronic records in accordance with department procedures. Provide responsive and courteous member service in a high-volume phone and email environment. Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support program operations and team objectives.

Qualifications:

Degree or related certification, or 3-5 years of relevant administrative experience required. Customer service experience preferred, especially in a call center or program support environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word); experience with IBMi or similar databases is a plus. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively. NYSUT- Who are we?
