Duties Description The NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government seeks an energetic, organized, detail-oriented and dependable person to join the Administration Division and provide general administrative support in a busy office environment to executive staff who manage sensitive and/or confidential information.

Duties of this position include general administrative support functions, such as:

  • Answering and directing incoming phone calls in a polite and friendly manner
  • Greeting and assisting all visitors to the reception area
  • Assisting callers with general questions concerning the Commission’s jurisdiction under the Lobbying and Ethics Laws (i.e. filing deadlines, training, etc.)
  • Opening incoming mail and distributing to unit or staff mailboxes
  • Preparing outgoing mail for postal or express delivery services. Operating postage mail meter and keeping appropriate logs and records
  • Maintaining remittance logs
  • Operating standard office equipment on a regular basis, including a photocopy machine and a desktop computer
  • Monitoring the Commission’s Ethics electronic mailbox and forwarding to appropriate staff
  • Maintaining and organizing files
  • Assisting staff with general administrative support functions, as needed
  • Acting as backup to revenue check processing-Acting as backup to Receiver of Goods
  • All duties involved in opening and closing the reception area.

The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in an office environment. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks with some guidance. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Punctual with strong attendance history. Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.
