Job Description:
Nassau Community College invites applications for two (2) Administrative Assistant I – College positions. The successful candidates will provide academic advisement to students as assigned; Assist the Director in planning and scheduling of academic advisement in the Academic Advisement Center throughout the Calendar year; Assist the Director in developing and coordinating advisement training programs for all advisors; Assist in the coordination of multiple operations in the Academic Advisement Center facility (admissions, placement testing, advisement, registration, financial aid and payment); Assist the Director in conducting large group advisement sessions during peak periods; Assist the Director with the development and production of advisement publications such as the Liberal Arts Advisors Handbook, Student Liberal Arts Handbook and advisement newsletter; Assist the Office of Continuing Education with its “Welfare-to-Work” client population by, offering support to clients during their academic programs at the College through workshops and counseling; and doing client follow up after placement for the purposes of retention verification; Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The successful candidates will have a Bachelors’ degree; and a minimum of two (2) years work experience in academic advisement or a related area. All Faculty are also required to have experience with the College’s current Learning Management system, E-mail, and Video Conferencing Systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite of Products. Please note, all certifications/licenses must be current and valid, and all academic degrees/certificates must be from accredited U.S. colleges/universities.
