Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline from US accredited university or college. 2+ years of administrative or secretarial experience (school setting preferred) Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, ATS, and PowerSchool Strong written and verbal communication skills Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to supporting students and staff Must be able to: Communicate through superior written and oral communications skills. Exhibit a high caliber of expertise in subject matter. Work on multiple projects and respond to requests and deadlines in an accurate, timely manner. Make sound decisions within the parameters of authority. Be courteous, professional and tactful at all times. Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, board members, parents, students, authorizer and community. OWN 1 Elementary School is seeking a dependable, organized, and service-oriented School Secretary to support the daily operations of the school. This position plays a critical role in managing communication, maintaining student records, coordinating logistics, and assisting with administrative tasks across the school community. Duties, Roles, and Responsibilities Maintain daily attendance records and update student files (digital and physical) Answer phones, respond to emails, and assist visitors and families at the front desk Process early dismissals, MetroCard replacements, and student absences Coordinate communications using Bloomz (parent communication platform) Run reports, track chronic absenteeism, and issue attendance verification letters Support logistics for events, enrollment, field trips, and inspections Submit tech and operations tickets; assist staff with ad-hoc requests Create flyers, certificates, and materials using Canva or Adobe Supervise students in the main office when necessar Share commitment to the success of the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of Our World Neighborhood Charter Schools. Support and fully participate in a school culture that focuses on student and adult learning. Set high expectations and standards for the office support staff. Conduct one-self according to professional, ethical principles. Continuously strive to improve office methods, clerical techniques, and interpersonal relationships. Accept responsibility for marketing the school to the community. Display personal qualities that reflect favorably upon the individual, the group and the school.
