REPORTS TO
Assigned Common Pleas Judge Under the guidance of the assigned common pleas judge, the Court Crier provides courtroom support to the judge, coordinates courtroom activities and oversees the work of tipstaff to ensure the efficient and effective operation of court sessions. In addition, the Court Crier is responsible for overseeing the jurors during the trial and deliberations.
Essential Duties :
Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required. Formally open and close court sessions. Delegate and oversee the work of tipstaff in the courtroom. Gather necessary court files and documents for judicial staff. Greet and direct parties and attorneys in the courtroom. Explain courtroom procedures, rules, and schedule to the parties and attorneys. Communicate with the Deputy Sheriff in the courtroom to ensure incarcerated defendants are transported to the courtroom and ready for the judge. Greet, assemble, and monitor jurors during trial and deliberation. Order and receive provisions for jurors.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Clerical Technician II has supervisory responsibility for approximately (0) direct reports.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
