Administrative Assistant – Public Services 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars 180 High St, Wakefield, RI 02879 Job Details Category Public Works Status Open Posted June 25, 2025 Closing July 10, 2025 11:59 PM The Town of South Kingstown is seeking an experienced individual for the role of Administrative Assistant within the Public Services Department. The person in this position, under the supervision of the Director of Public Services , is responsible for a variety of routine and complex administrative support duties to the department manager which requires the application of initiative and considerable independent judgment in the identification of problems, problem resolution, data and report preparation and analysis as well as the collection and analysis of pertinent information and the preparation of recommendations. Duties include monitoring department budgets to assure spending is within budgetary appropriations; gathering cost and other data to assist making projections and estimates; preparing reports to justify budget requests and attending hearings as necessary; preparing, coordinating, solving any billing problems and coordinating overall user billing for Water, Wastewater and Solid Waste Divisions and may support scheduling work orders. To be considered, candidates must have an Associate’s degree and five (5) or more years experience reporting to a director or above and several years of increasingly responsible work, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the Environmental Sciences. Bachelor degree in the Environmental Sciences is desirable. Candidates must have considerable knowledge of computer software including spreadsheet and word processing software; knowledge and experience with or the ability to learn on the job VISON, MUNIS and ViewPoint municipal software; knowledge of basic accounting principals, billing software, methods and practice; ability to keep accurate financial records and must have strong communication skills both verbally and in writing to effectively meet and deal with the public as well as fellow employees. The starting salary for this 35 hour per week, NEARI local SKMEA position is an hourly rate of $35.85 and upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period increases to $37.40.
