You’ll be the first person to greet our visitors and help determine the best way to help them. The 14th Circuit Victims Services Center is housed inside the secure 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office headquarters in Okatie, S.C. There, nonprofit partners such as Lowcountry Legal Volunteers and Hopeful Horizons provide services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and similar crimes against vulnerable people. In addition to conducting intake interviews with new clients, our specialist will be in charge of collecting data that keep the Solicitor’s Office and its center partners informed about the demand for specific services and help us monitor our performance. The right person will need to be able to interview victims and obtain relevant information; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; follow written and verbal instructions; prioritize tasks; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. Relevant experience (preferred but not required): Education or experience in social services, victim advocacy or medical-office procedures; Familiarity with Excel; The ability to speak Spanish.

Immediate supervisor:

Victims Services Center Director Primary objectives: Administer and monitor intake protocols for the 14th Circuit Special Victims Unit. Work to ensure the operations of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office/Victims Center reception area are conducted professionally, courteously and reliably. These operations include prompt and accurate transfer of incoming calls to the Okatie office main phone line. Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Victims Services Center Director and the Administrative Chief of Staff. Duties (including but not limited to): Ensure that clients/crime victims are assisted in completing all necessary documents and understand the contents of those documents before signing. The candidate will also ensure that all clients/crime victims understand the array of available services offered within the 14th Circuit Victims Services Center and beyond. Review and ensure that all intake and related documents follow the requirements of the program and VSC guidelines. Accurately track relevant in-take statistics. Provide same to Victims Services Center Director as requested and to the Administrative Chief of Staff in a monthly report that includes the number and nature of client visits, and demographic and geographic characteristics of center clients. Work with center partners to ensure they receive relevant intake information. Work with center partners to streamline the intake process for all center partners. Attend meetings and trainings as deemed necessary by the Victims Services Center Director. Ensure the reception area is orderly and that informational materials concerning the Solicitor’s Office, the Victims Services Center and its partners are kept stocked and on display. Work with the Administrative Chief of Staff to maintain an interoffice directory. Other duties as assigned by the Victims Services Center Director and Administrative Chief of Staff.
