The Accommodations Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the overall operational mission and goals of the Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC). This position primarily focuses on facilitating the implementation of accommodations for students registered with SDRC while also providing support to faculty and staff and promoting disability awareness throughout the greater Carolina community.
Key responsibilities include overseeing and training Graduate Assistants on key SDRC procedures such as faculty notifications, test proctoring services, and the Two Thumbs Up program. This position also manages the coordination and delivery of accommodations, including assistive technology, note-taking services, and interpreting and captioning services, in collaboration with external interpreting agencies. The Accommodations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate implementation of accommodations and responding to student and faculty needs as they arise.
This role requires a strong customer service orientation, as it involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, and campus partners. The Accommodations Coordinator will also provide coverage for walk-in appointments and serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for students seeking guidance or assistance related to their accommodations.
Additional responsibilities include: Supporting data collection and tracking related to note taker services, registered student metrics, orientation and training initiatives, and special projects.
Assisting in the planning, implementation, and supervision of both short- and long-term service strategies that support students with disabilities.
Performing general office duties and contributing to the completion of special projects as assigned by leadership.
Collaborating closely with Disability Resource Managers and other team members to maintain high standards of service and compliance.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a commitment to advancing access and equity for students with disabilities.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of basic principles and theories of student development and educational administration. Knowledge of the University, Division and Center’s policies and procedures. Knowledge of individual and/or group counseling techniques. Knowledge of public relations, facility management and food service support. The ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public. Ability to think critically, have attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to work independently while developing collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, student affairs and academic affairs unit. Ability to exercise professional judgement and discretion, making responsible and professional decisions on a regular basis that impact student welfare and the institution. Knowledge and familiarity with ADA, FERPA, and AIM. Ability to lift at most 25lbs, ability to sit and or stand for long periods of time, and to multi-task with minimal errors.
This position is expected to maintain a consistent schedule which will include time outside of normal hours of operation (8:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday).
