TITLE:
Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Planning, and Secondary Administration
FLSA:

General Summary
The Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Planning, and Secondary Administration performs senior level work with extensive decision-making discretion assisting the Superintendent in all matters pertaining to operational and administrative services. The role also assists with middle and high school principals to develop and enhance programs that lead to improved student outcomes and academic achievement.
REPORTS TO
Superintendent
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Oversees and evaluates administration of assigned departments (student services, operations, maintenance, transportation, school safety, secondary schools, athletics, food nutrition services and other divisions of the school district as assigned) for the purpose of ensuring effective delivery of services to schools, departments and the community.
Assists with coordinating and selecting principals and assistant principals for middle and high schools.
Works directly with middle and high principals to ensure compliance with district and state initiatives while also helping to coordinate and lead programs aimed at increasing academic achievement for secondary schools.
Works with principals to disaggregate and analyze assessment data to aid in planning for instruction.
Assists and leads in the development and implementation of instructional programs for secondary schools.
Promotes and monitors school scheduling alternatives that maximize the use of time, space and personnel.
Ensures that the mission and objectives for the district are implemented through participatory decision-making process at the district and building levels.
Assists with the creation and updates to the district’s yearly goals and Strategic Plan for instructions and operations/facilities.
Develops, updates and coordinates the development of a Facilities and Operations Master Plan and budget.
Assist with developing, updating and coordinating the development of a Capital Improvement Plan and budget.
Prepares applications to State and other funding agencies for the purpose of initiating facility construction, upgrade and repair projects.
Assist in the planning for growth at the middle and high school levels.
Assists the Superintendent, School Board and district administration for the purpose of formalizing long-range facilities plans, evaluating available resources, and funding mechanisms.
Oversees the preparation and presentation of studies, analyses and reports concerning assigned district component areas for the purpose of conveying information on issues that are critical to effective decision making by the School Board, Superintendent, administrators and the public.
Attends School Board meetings and prepares reports for the School Board.
Conducts comprehensive professional evaluations for principals and assistant principals.
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and provides leadership for middle and high school principals.
Oversees the student services, maintenance, transportation, food nutrition services.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Valid South Carolina Secondary Principal Certificate
Master’s Degree or higher
Successful experience as a middle or high school principal
District level administration experience preferred
Minimum five (5) years of successful administrative experience
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.
Working Conditions:
Office environment with no exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to general office activities requiring movement/lifting items weighing up to ten pounds. Routine local travel required; occasional overnight travel required. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and meeting deadlines. Duties of the job require frequent use of a computer monitor and related equipment.
