Career Development and Services Job Description Career Gateway provides quality temporary support to University departments. CG employees have the opportunity to work in a campus department while continuing to look for regular positions on campus. CG assignments are located in UT departments in the Knoxville area and are available due to a vacancy because an employee is on leave, because of an increased workload, or special project. Once your application is completed, you may be contacted if a position becomes available that matches your education, experience, and unique qualifications. You could be asked to give your references and complete a background check when called. All UT employees go through this process, it ensures it is done so when a position becomes available you are ready to start! CG assignments are varied and can include many different jobs such as clerical/secretarial, office administration, janitorial duties, parking services, etc. The majority of assignments are entry to mid-level clerical support. However, the qualifications can vary depending on the departmental needs. You must have at least 6 months of administrative/clerical experience. Typically, work schedules are Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. However, the hours do vary depending on the department, and some departments require the availability for overtime. CG employees do not receive benefits or annual leave and are paid on an hourly basis on the biweekly payroll.
