49 Per Hour The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill an Office Specialist II Supervisor vacancy in the Bureau of Resource Management in the Augusta Headquarters. There will be some remote work opportunities with this position that follow the IF&W Telework Policy and per management approval.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of administrative workers in the Bureau of Resource Management (Fisheries and Wildlife Divisions) to ensure organizational needs are met effectively and efficiently. Primary responsibilities include planning, assigning, instructing, reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating the work activities of office and administrative support staff. In addition, this position will perform office and administrative support functions to include entering and maintaining information in databases; processing contracts and invoices, various permit applications, credit card transactions; and other administrative support duties as needed. Essential skills include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge and experience in supervisory principles, methods, and techniques
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations in varying situations
  • The ability to understand and promote management goals as they affect day-to-day operations
  • The ability to effectively coach employees and conduct performance appraisals. The backgrounds of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, and other office technology/equipment.
  • Experience using Advantage and MainePays.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • A proven ability to be flexible and adjust to business needs while balancing multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Highly effective communication skills with the ability to identify problems, formulate corrections and propose recommendations for improvement to senior management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training, education, or experience in administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a proficient knowledge of modern office practices to perform advanced administrative support tasks at the statewide level that are broad in scope or functionally diverse, and 2) the ability to use independent judgment, initiative, and decision making on complex administrative matters.
