Job Description
Business Office Manager South Mississippi Mental Health Center Pascagoula, MS 39567 Job Overview Directly responsible for the accounting functions of the agency to include oversight of all accounts receivable and healthcare billing operations with emphasis on behavioral health coding and reimbursement. Responsibilities Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Jackson County Finance Director (or their designee) to prepare reports such as departmental budgets, cash projections, and board financials in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Prepare productivity reports for submission to the Executive Director. Perform weekly analysis of cash position. Work with Executive Director and Jackson County Finance Director (or their designee) to prepare the agency annual budget for review every year according to GAAP standards. Work with Executive Director and Jackson County Finance Director (or their designee) to prepare the Cost Report to be submitted to Department of Health every year. Update Financial Services Monthly Checklist as duties are completed. Ensure all behavioral health billing and claims processing deadlines are met timely by Financial Services staff. Monitor agency cash flow, keep sufficient funds deposited in active accounts to cover liabilities, and make recommendations to the Executive Director to keep income flowing smoothly. Work closely with all audits and coordinate with Jackson County Finance Director (or their designee) to ensure compliance with GAAP. Develop and review all grants with recommendation to feasibility of grant for agency. Preparation of all grant RFP applications for submission to Department of Mental Health by the deadline as set by DMH and monthly cash requests. Meet standards and documentation requirements for Department of Mental Health, Medicaid, and other funding sources. Ensure compliance with behavioral health coding and billing regulations. Collaborate with Jackson County Finance Director (or their designee) on all required financial reporting to ensure compliance with GAAP. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Must have computer experience Must be discreet, responsible, and work with minimal supervision Good organization and communication skills Ability to relate well with staff Ability to interpret written instructions and record information concerning the individual’s daily activities Proficient knowledge of behavioral health coding and billing requirements Experience with healthcare revenue cycle management Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing practices for healthcare services Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Education and Qualification Requirements Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting, supervisory, problem-solving, and organizational skills Experience with healthcare coding and billing Demonstrated experience developing budgets for agency operations and grant acquisition Working knowledge of GAAP standards and financial reporting requirements Preferred experience with behavioral health care coding and billing Preferred knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing practices for behavioral health services If you are a motivated individual with a passion for organization and leadership, we encourage you to apply for this vital role within our team!
