Varies College offices are normally open from 8:00 AM until 5:00PM, Monday through Friday. However, due to the nature of responsibility to the student body, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening or weekend hours. Non-exempt employees will normally work 8 hours per day. Overtime (any hours more than 40 per week) for non-exempt employees is required to be approved, in advance by the department supervisor. Exempt employees will typically work at least 40 hours per week and such additional time as may be reasonably required to fulfill the obligations of their position description. Such additional work may include evenings and weekends and should be described in this document. Summar y of this position : The Clayton Center for the Arts is Maryville’s destination for arts and culture in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Great hospitality is a staple in this region. This key role is responsible for creating a fresh, evolving, interactive experience for patrons and guests of the Clayton Center for the Arts. This position will provide positive guest experiences through patron services and box office management. The Box Office Manager oversees ticket sales and box office operations for the Clayton Center for the Arts events. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in computerized ticketing software and knowledge of in-person and web-based ticket sales, digital inventory management, and venue box office operations. The Box Office Manager is responsible for inputting pricing structure, seating charts, and other necessary information into a web-based ticketing system. He works with the ticketing software provider to account for their portion of ticket sales. This role works directly with the Clayton Center staff and the College’s Business Office to reconcile accounts, ensuring timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial reporting.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
(please be specific and respond to every question; indicate none if not applicable) Education required to ensure success in this position: Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality, Business Administration, Arts Administration or a related field, preferred Experience required to ensure success in this position: 1-3years experience, preferred Special skills, knowledge, and abilities: Experience with ticketing software, E-tix specifically Event Management Software Point of Sale Knowledge of the contract process Experience working with artists Volunteer Management License, certification, or registration necessary: ABC license, preferred or will be required to receive after hire Physical requirements: Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds. May periodically lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to move quickly from one area of campus to another; manage staircases and other stage environments. Ability to utilize a computer for long periods of time.
Environmental conditions:
Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty . Direct, manage, and supervise all ticketing functions to ensure event ticketing is successfully executed Works with the Center’s management and key clients to set up events, maintain seating manifests, and maintain financial records Hire and supervise part-time box office and front-of-house support to support performances Advise and assist with gathering data and compiling event venue reports Collect and manage patron data via the ticketing system and report in Raiser’s Edge Assist the Clayton Center administrative team in the accounting of funds and financial deposits Adhere to all contractual obligations of ticket sales, seating manifests, box office revenue, and exchange policies Communicate with patrons on pre-show regarding parking, ticket information, and any details about the performances Ensure box office hours are staffed and operating with top-tier customer service Effectively manages Clayton Center’s membership program and ensures members receive excellent service Develop and implement a group sales strategy and establish a partnership with local organizations to attend CCA performances Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.
