POSITION SUMMARY

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience and Stewardship by answering the phone and assisting the department with pick up and processing of paperwork, materials and reports, and providing overall clerical support.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Quality/No Harm:

 Assist with area clerical duties such as typing, photocopying, filing and faxing documents, reports and other materials.  Prints, sorts, and organizes paperwork, reports and/or materials to be sent out.  Prepares outgoing correspondence to include folding, stuffing, and postage stamping.  Mails/sends out or distributes paperwork, reports and/or materials as directed by the department needs.  Assists other clerical staff with clerical duties as time permits. May provide backup coverage when needed.  Demonstrate I-Care Values.  Assists with maintaining a clean work area.

Stewardship:

 Requests materials or information, logs receipt appropriately per department guidelines.  May place calls to other departments or outside organizations on behalf of department to assist with coordination of department activities if requested.  May be responsible for mail pickup.  Shows commitment to individual and departmental Continuous Quality Improvement and organizational operational effectiveness

Customer Experience:

 Provides general reception duties.  Answers telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully dealing with internal and external customers, the public, physicians and physician offices, outside businesses, and other departments.  Directs calls to the appropriate party and transfers the call to another extension or out of the building when appropriate.  Takes complete and accurate messages for area personnel when they are not available, initials and places in appropriate place as designated by area of responsibility.  May assist with completion of paperwork, pulling information from files or processing of paperwork, materials or patients  Responsible for assisting with the maintenance of area files and filing system.  Performs other duties as requested by area supervisor and area personnel. Work Experience

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.  1 year office experience preferred  Ability to use or operate computer, copy machine, Dictaphone, typewriter, and fax machine.  Accurate typing skills of a minimum of 45 words per minute or as designated by area of responsibility.  Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and follow Health First’s confidentiality guidelines  Ability to work well with others.  Good organizational and communication skills.  Successful completion of Level II background screening (fingerprinting) after August 1, 2010.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 Ability to sit or stand for long periods.  Ability to meet additional demands and lifting requirements as defined by the department.  Ability to lift up to but not less than 25 lbs up to 6 times a day

MENTAL DEMANDS

 Ability to work and maintain composure in a stressful environment.  Ability to manage multiple tasks during a workday.  Ability to communicate effectively.  Ability to operate PC with installed software. Benefits
