Description of Work This position with NCDOT offers full State Benefits , competitive salaries and many career development opportunities. This is an Engineering Technician II position that will serve as the HICAMS/Office Technician located in the Rockingham County Resident Engineer’s Office. This position will perform a wide variety of office support duties including the use of Microsoft Office, document and report preparation, proficient record keeping, analyzing and processing field data, scanning and photocopying documents along with other office duties as assigned. As a HiCams Technician the position will be responsible for functions including processing monthly and final estimates, checking calculations, resolving pay record and material quantity discrepancies, processing material prepayments, researching project documents and ensuring all HiCams related functions are in compliance with contract agreements, standards and specifications. Work may include other office duties and responsibilities as assigned. This position must be able to communicate effectively and provide positive customer service while working in a team environment. This position should have knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices and theories used in construction and construction inspection. This position should also have experience in planning, developing, scheduling and completing projects independently with limited supervision. Field work may be necessary as assigned by management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Working knowledge of computer equipment, (I-pads, desktop), software (HiCams and Share Point) and mathematical functions
Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word and Excel
Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
Knowledge in understanding contracts, plans, standards and specifications
Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments
Additional Expectations:
Safety toe footwear is required for this position. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
