Job Description
The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is currently accepting applications for a Police Records Clerk. The employee p erforms intermediate clerical work that follows well-established procedures; does related work necessary to the efficient operation of the Police Records Division. T he work in this class involves varied clerical tasks. Work assignments are such that they may be learned after a short training period. Specific and detailed instructions are given to new employees and accompany any subsequent new assignments. After the initial training period, supervision is limited to a review and check of the work upon completion. Questions or problems arising from the work are referred to a supervisor for decision. Accuracy in the filing and completion of reports is extremely important. Meeting and dealing with requests from the public in a cooperative manner is also required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of office methods and procedures, as well as efficient operation of various office equipment efficiently; Thorough knowledge of business English, basic accounting procedure and excellent grammar skills; Ability to apply departmental policy and procedure to a wide variety of routine tasks; Maintain on-going record keeping tasks specific to department; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and general public;
NCIC Certification Acceptable Experience and Training:
Completion of high school diploma or equivalent; supplemental training/courses in office support skills such as computers, basic bookkeeping, etc.; preferable such education would be at the college level; generally, one to two years of prior experience provides the necessary background to perform tasks efficiently; on-going training in office methods and office support is desirable. Pre-employment physical,and background check required. EEO/AA
