General Summary The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for processing all incoming and outgoing mail for the school in a timely manner. This is a part-time 20-hour per week position with hours of Monday 12pm-4pm, Tuesday-Friday 12:30pm-3:30pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm, 10 months per year (mid-August through mid-June). Periodic coverage over summer months will also be required. The Mailroom Clerk reports directly to the Director of Facilities & Security Operations. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Sorts incoming mail by department, employee, and student to ensure timely distribution. Sorts interdepartmental mail including notices and memoranda. Operates mail machines including the postage meter, photocopying machine, and mail folding and inserting machine. Also serves as point of contact for service calls. Processes and weighs outgoing mail. Maintains records of receipt, mailing dates, and other required information. Replenishes postage on the postage meter as needed. Stocks supplies needed for the mailroom. Provides back-up mailroom support for afternoons and Saturdays as needed. Job Qualifications High School diploma required. Three to five years of related experience required. Good communication skills. Basic understanding of operating instructions and processes for machines. Basic understanding of or the ability to learn locations and organizational structure of the school. Must be highly organized and detail oriented. Basic understanding of postage rates and regulations. Ability to correctly sort and distribute large amounts of mail. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to keep information confidential as appropriate. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. Must be positive and get along with visitors, vendors, students, and colleagues.
