Transportation Receptionist Position Summary:
The Transportation Receptionist provides clerical and customer service support to the Director of Transportation and the overall transportation department. This position serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, assists with scheduling and communications, maintains department records, and ensures the smooth operation of daily administrative tasks.

High school diploma or GED required; additional clerical or administrative training preferred Prior experience in a receptionist or administrative support role, preferably in a school or transportation setting Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure Fingerprint clearance with the Alabama State Department of Education prior to the start date
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet visitors and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner Answer and route incoming calls related to student transportation services Provide accurate information to parents, school staff, and the public regarding bus schedules, routes, and procedures Maintain up-to-date records for transportation requests, field trip logs, driver schedules, and other transportation-related data Assist with preparation and distribution of transportation reports, notices, and correspondence Support the Director of Transportation with calendar management, meeting coordination, and general administrative tasks Enter and update data in routing and transportation software systems Monitor and track parent complaints, incidents, and driver concerns and escalate issues as directed Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and department information Perform other clerical and support duties as assigned by the

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee must also talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use their hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
