Job Summary:
Receptionist / Physician Schedulers in Radiation Oncology professionally greet patients and visitors at the front desk area while helping manage communications for the department. Accurate and timely documentation and scheduling of patient visits in multiple EMR systems is a high priority. Job Duties /
Responsibilities:
Maintains a consistent presence at the front desk (with occasional breaks), greets patients, and then informs appropriate personnel of patient’s arrival Thoroughly carries out physician’s orders. Primary oversite for provider’s schedule (reschedule, cancellations, blocking, labs, chemo, etc.) Required to frequently collect co-pays and coordinate admission documentation within the EMR systems. Assist patients as needed, such as obtaining wheelchairs, and directing patients to appropriate areas within the department. Check patients in and out of the department for timely communication with teams. Attentive to the needs of all patients and visitors in the waiting area. Keeps the waiting area clean, makes coffee, maintains beverage area, and discards outdated supplies and magazines. Corresponds timely to emails, phone calls, and IM messages. Make daily appointment reminder calls. Routinely address patients/family members questions and concerns regarding medical procedures and policies. Provides information to patients regarding preparation for diagnostics and other upcoming appointments. Schedule and document accurately in multiple EMR, billing, and computer systems. Assist with transportation communication and coordination with outside entities. Mailing documentation, cards, or medical records as requested.
Professional communication:
answers phone calls, coordinates communication, provides information in accordance with established policies. Responsible for inventory and ordering of office supplies and beverages. Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with internal and external customers. Always provides and maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and follows all organizational policies and procedures. Attends meetings and/or reading e-mail from supervisors and other team members.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to provide positive services and interactions with both internal and external customers. Multi-tasker, detail -oriented, with the ability to keep up in a fast-paced environment, and adaptable to organizational changes. Strong computer, problem solving, and organizational skills. Word, Office, Excel Ability to work within a team environment and independently as necessary. Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and telephone skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced medical clinic. Certifications/Licenses/Education/or Experience in a related field: High school graduate or equivalent
