Position Overview:
The Adoption Helper/Front Desk Associate plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our animal shelter. This position requires excellent customer service skills, knowledge of animal behavior, and a passion for animal welfare. The ideal candidate will assist with adoptions, foster coordination, administrative tasks, and public relations efforts to ensure the well-being of animals and a positive experience for potential adopters and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Adoption & Foster Support:
Answer phones and provide assistance to the public regarding adoption and foster inquiries.
Assist potential adopters with meet-and-greet sessions.
Follow up on recent adoptions to ensure successful transitions.
Maintain and update the Adoptable Dogs and Cats book.
Follow up with foster families and provide necessary support.
Assist with transport of animals when needed.
SpayBay Assistance:
Provide support for SpayBay operations on assigned days.
Manage afternoon SpayBay responsibilities.
Shelter Maintenance & Administrative Duties:
Clean and maintain the bathroom and other common areas as needed.
Update animal pictures in PetPoint to keep records accurate.
Assist with other assigned tasks to support shelter operations.
Public Relations & Social Media:
Create and post engaging content about adoptable animals on social media platforms.
Coordinate and promote the “Pet of the Week.”
Provide excellent customer service and public relations support.
Assist with events and community outreach programs.
Support the Volunteer Coordinator as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of animal behavior and handling.
Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in social media management is a plus.
Passion for animal welfare and commitment to the organization’s mission.
