This pivotal role serves in a Maitre d’ capacity and is responsible for greeting guests, coordinating and managing all reservations, conducting the flow of dining room and event seating, and assisting to deliver the highest possible standards of service. This position is also responsible for logistical details, including reservations and arrangements for large parties, setting the overall ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant space, and fostering communication and partnership amongst the entirety of the FOH team. Our ideal candidate has considerable prior experience in high-end food service environments, an impeccable demeanor, customer service skills par excellence, and logistical and organizational acumen. Working in a Maitre d’ capacity, this candidate must be able to work “on stage”, understanding that all guests can see them at all times. This position must possess the ability to control their facial expressions, tone, and interactions with both staff and guests consistently. In addition, this position must also have a professional, working knowledge of the OpenTable platform. The successful candidate must also be able to stand for long periods of time; to work in occasionally chaotic environments where direction may come from multiple sources; to climb stairs multiple times a day; to speak on the phone professionally and effectively; to squat, bend, twist, and reach overhead; and to lift 25lbs. Responsibilities Greet and assist visitors upon arrival, providing exceptional customer service. Manage reservation scheduling, large party placement and timing, and server rotation to ensure optimal guest experience. Handle incoming calls, addressing inquiries for reservations and events. Survey reservations for special occasions and assist in writing special occasion cards for the table. Support front desk efficiency by assisting to train fellow Maitre d’s and front desk assistants. Ensure the front desk area, including sections of the main dining room and bar areas, is organized, clean, and welcoming at all times. Skills Strong customer service skills with a friendly demeanor. Proficient in OpenTable. Previous experience in high-end or casual high-end dining or hospitality. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy environment. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
