The Receptionist answers routine questions, maintains a neat and accurate filing system, and distributes departmental mail. The Receptionist also maintains accurate patient and/or employee records, strives to promote personal performance quality by participating in specialized training programs, and attends meetings. If associated with Radiology, the Receptionist schedules and processes patient x-ray requests, dispatches Transporters, processes files and data, as needed, and contributes to student education and supervision. If associated with the Lake Health Center, the receptionist processes Health Center paperwork, stocks the fitness counter, and assists members in an effort toward providing quality health and fitness services. Customer Service Provides courteous assistance, guidance, and direction to departmental visitors, ascertains the nature of visitor business, and directs individuals to various locations in the department and hospital when appropriate. Receives incoming telephone calls, exercises judgment in prioritizing calls, and courteously directs calls to appropriate personnel in a prudent and efficient manner. Answers routine questions regarding hospital and departmental operations, policies, and procedures in a courteous and professional manner. Document and Data Management Files various materials and information, performs light typing duties, and maintains visitor logs when needed. Opens and distributes departmental mail and ensures the proper handling of all correspondence in a manner that promotes efficient and prudent departmental operations. Maintains accurate patient and/or employee records following established protocols and documents workload statistics in an effort to ensure prudent and efficient departmental operation. Quality Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs. Other Duties As Assigned Performs other duties as assigned or requested. If associated with Radiology (at OLOL), schedules and processes patient x-ray requests, maintains card file systems and daily ledgers, dispatches transporters, performs the duties of a Radiology Transporter, as needed, attends to patient needs in the reception area, and accurately sorts, distributes, and processes in-coming examination requisitions. Accurately and promptly processes files and incoming data, as needed, and periodically removes out-dated files according to departmental specifications. 1 year as a receptionist or in equivalent work High School or equivalent
