We are looking for a very bubbly, friendly, empathetic, caring, hard working candidate to join our family and help us make a unique difference in the lives of the patients we serve. Overview You will play the essential role in preparing the patient to see the Optometrist and help perform other administrative duties. This is a very important job, as this position is usually the first person a patient talks to! Answering the phones, scheduling appointments and collecting insurance information, checking patients out and collecting payments at the end of the exam are main components. You will help our patients stay happy, learn about the importance of eye exams, and help provide high quality eye care to all ages of patients in our community. Experience is preferred, but we provide training courses that benefit both new and veteran Optometric Assistants. Training will be provided to the right candidate who is a fast learner, has an upbeat personality and takes constructive criticism. Ideal candidates get along well with others and have a passion for caring for patients. We need an excellent communicator, mature, patient candidate who follows directions well. Our ideal candidate is polite, kind and compassionate. They have excellent attention to detail, are well spoken and good listeners. The candidate must have willingness to continue to learn about the eyecare industry, emerging technology, optical products and services throughout their career. They must have exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills. The candidate needs to be proficient in critical thinking for identifying problems and resolutions. They must be punctual, be able to multitask, be polished and have professional demeanor, and must be a people person that works cooperatively with other employees. Typical Functions/Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Greet patients upon arrival Ensure patients are happy and comfortable during experience in our office Accurately obtain and maintain patient’s preliminary medical history and upload to electronic health record Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the doctor and be available to help additional staff throughout the office Provide patient with explanation of tests to be performed during work-up Prepare patient for examination by performing pre-exam tests and using equipment Instruct patient in care and use of glasses and conduct contact lens training Assist patient in frame selection, discuss lens options, adjust and repair glasses Determines client’s current lens prescription, when necessary, using lensometer or lens analyzer Answer phone, schedule appointments, handle correspondence, pull insurance and file paperwork, patient check in Understand and explain insurance to patient Maintain inventory of office materials and clean and shut down instruments Collaborate with doctor and other team members to provide seamless patient experience Good computer skills and being comfortable with technology are a must Utilize downtown to compete daily tasks All other duties as assigned
High School Diploma Required Job Type:
Full-Time, 8 hour shifts, Monday – Friday and Weekend Availability. As a small practice – our employees will be cross-trained to assist in all positions of the office when needed.
