We are seeking a Receptionist to front end clerical support to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service’s (FS) Research and Development (R D) department at the Southern Research Station (SRS) in Asheville, North Carolina. So, what will the Receptionist at Terrestris do? As the Receptionist, you serve as the first point of contact for the USDA Forest Service’s Southern Research Station (SRS), providing front-desk administrative support and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations at the station. This position supports the R D mission by assisting staff, researchers, visitors, and stakeholders with inquiries and coordinating office communications. What does a typical day look like for the Receptionist?

You will:
  • Provide customer service and public interface to visiting public and partners for SRS, as well as hosted employees from Forest Service Forest Health Protection, Washington Office, Regional Office, and other USDA agencies.

Ensure public visitors to the SRS Headquarters receive accurate information in accordance with all applicable policies. Support safety functions by maintaining security, equipment protection and daily operations in accordance with established policies and standards. Ensure data collection, analysis, and upward reporting is accurate. Provide assistance with file management systems and other office services in accordance with Federal records policies. What qualifications do you look for? You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have:

  • The ability to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of clerical, customer service, or administrative experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Demonstrated experience with customer service practices. Demonstrated experience with operational and safety procedures associated with a public-facing frontline position. Fluency in English. Knowledge of federal and agency policies for providing information to the public. Demonstrated experience with custom software applications. We are extra impressed by folks with:
