Job Summary:
A veterinary receptionist plays a crucial role in the daily operations of a veterinary clinic or animal hospital. Their job involves a combination of administrative duties, client service, and support for the veterinary team. Veterinary receptionists are responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, and supporting the veterinary team by performing various administrative tasks. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for animals.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year reception experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities:
Client Interaction:
Greet clients and their pets in a warm and professional manner. Handle incoming phone calls, answer inquiries, and provide information about services. Schedule appointments and follow-up visits, managing the clinic’s calendar efficiently. Check clients in and out, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed. Collect payments, issue receipts, and manage billing inquiries. Provide information on veterinary services, products, and promotions.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain client and patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Handle correspondence, including emails and mail, related to appointments and client inquiries. Prepare and manage medical records, files, and patient charts. Assist in managing inventory, including ordering office supplies and restocking items. Perform data entry tasks, ensuring accurate and timely input of information into the clinic’s management software. Support to
Veterinary Staff:
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians by retrieving medical records and updating patient information. Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming to clients and their pets. Assist with the intake and discharge of animals, providing necessary instructions to pet owners. Monitor the waiting area, managing the flow of clients and ensuring pets are comfortable.
Client Education and Communication:
Provide clients with educational materials and instructions as directed by the veterinary staff. Communicate with clients about their pet’s health, upcoming appointments, and any follow-up care needed. Handle and escalate client complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for long periods. Capability to lift or move supplies and small animals, typically up to 25-30 pounds. Comfortable handling pets, which may include restraining animals as needed.

Full-time Pay:
$14.00 – $15.50 per hour Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
