Optometric Assistant/Receptionist Studio 2020 Vision Care 2130 State Highway 35, Sea Girt, NJ 08750 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support optometrists in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. The ideal candidate will have a passion for eye care, excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and most importantly someone looking for hands on experience! Responsibilities Assist optometrists during eye examinations and procedures. Prepare patients for exams by taking medical histories. Perform preliminary testing such as visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging. Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options. Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain an organized and clean work environment, including sterilizing equipment. Provide excellent customer service to enhance patient experience. Assist with retail sales of eyewear and optical products. Review medical billings for patients prior to checking out. Skills Familiarity with optical terminology and procedures (preferred). Experience in pediatrics is a plus for working with younger patients. Familiarity with medical billing processes and insurance claims (preferred). Excellent patient care skills with a focus on empathy and communication. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Revolution. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and physiology is beneficial.
