A typical day would include surgery admissions, treatment of hospitalized pets, performing in clinic blood work as well as preparing samples for off-site labs, file documentation & invoicing, assisting with appointments, filling prescriptions, performing technician appointments, surgery prep, assisting in surgery, client call backs, surgery discharge and inventory management. Our state-of-the-art hospital is equipped with a Canon 128 slice CT, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2 digital radiology rooms, ultrasound, laboratory, and Snyder oxygen cage. Veterinary Assistant Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to veterinarians and credentialed technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and pro-actively set up for any procedures or diagnostic tests
- Maintain patient cleanliness
- Responsible for cleaning, feeding and care of animals in surgery, ICU, and in isolation areas.
- Responsible for accurate & timely data entry regarding patient vitals, medical status, urination, bowel movements
- Provide patient restraint in a safe, efficient, and caring manner
- Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes of patient’s condition to DVM Feeding patients
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies
- Care and maintenance of all medical equipment including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools that are essential to daily operations

- Greeting clients and patients in a friendly, kind, and respectful manner
- Answering phone calls in a friendly, kind, and respectful manner. Also, directing clients to appropriate departments as well as giving approved advice and options for issues and problems.
- Scheduling
- Making client appointments as well as confirming appointments. This includes making sure the appointments flow easily and the doctor as well as staff will have enough down time for lunch and or breaks as scheduled.

- Making sure Telephone numbers, addresses, and contacts are accurate in our systems.
- Preparing patient charts for technicians and doctors.
- Keeping all lab work tests and make information that is needed for appointments available to the Doctors so that they can relay the information to our clients.
- Keeping desk and reception area neat and organized, making sure all forms, paper work files, available for the Doctors, veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants as needed.
- Collecting fees for services, print out sales slips/receipts, and discharging patients.
- Doing daily receipts and collections reconciliations daily.
- Handling referral letters and mailing to client’s regular veterinarian. Position Knowledge & Skill Requirements Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal & communication skills Meticulous to detail & organized

- High School Diploma (or equivalent) or above
- Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist for 1 year or more (preferred)
- Veterinary experience 1 year or more (preferred)

TEAM PLAYER
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience
- Knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology
- Animal handling and restraint
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability to use a computer.
