JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for performing administrative duties related to property and inventory control of organizational assets in accordance with applicable requirements.

STARTING SALARY

$19.71 hourly/ $41,005 annually

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of property control and inventory procedures. Knowledge of rules and regulations governing procedures for disposal of surplus property. Knowledge of the functions, services, procedures and regulations of the unit or department to which assigned. Knowledge of purchasing, storekeeping and property control practices. Knowledge of property depreciation procedures. Skill in performing mathematical calculations and applying property and inventory control practices. Ability to maintain records of equipment, purchases and surplus property. Ability to develop and maintain a database to verify proper identification of property and equipment. Ability to use a computer and related software. Ability to maintain work related records and prepare reports. Ability to prioritize workload. Ability to work effectively with others. Ability to proof own work and the work of others.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Note:

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below. Affix tags to accountable equipment, and records age, condition, and value throughout Hillsborough County government locations. Drives to and from locations. Coordinates with property custodians to ensure all property is accounted for. Disposes of surplus property and accounts for all funds generated through these sales. Establishes and maintains methods, procedures, and records to account for equipment purchases using computer operated software. Reviews and approves forms for the transfer of equipment. Maintains current records for a wide variety of accountable equipment materials. Performs appraisals and/or assessments regarding the value of property based on condition and makes recommendations as to the appropriate disposition. Researches specifications to assist in determining appropriate equipment to purchase and prepares requisitions. Answers phone call and email inquiries. Performs other duties as needed, including those performed by subordinate fiscal, financial, and/or clerical staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS A

combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to meet the job-specific competencies noted above. Preference may be given based on level of experience in Property control of capital assets and level of education (such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any business-related field).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is medium and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; may also require balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changes that include goals, priorities, and needs of the organization and position. This job involves tagging or verifying capital assets located throughout Hillsborough County including locations such as the County Jail, the Health Department, the autopsy room of the Medical examiner, wetlands to observe stormwater pumps, the Fleet repair floor, remote parks, and fire stations actively responding to emergency calls.
