JOB SUMMARY
This individual is responsible for scheduling all patient appointments with necessary physician in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring the patient feels welcome to the Practice and continues coming here to receive top quality care, and monitoring and modifying physician-scheduling templates, as necessary, to maximize efficiency.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Two years minimum experience in medical practice.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Ability to effectively triage calls from patients to ensure appropriate scheduling. 2. Excellent customer service and communication skills. 3. Ability to work as a team member. 4. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 5. Empathetic personality giving attention to patients’ needs and concerns. 6. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. 7. Respectful treatment of patients, co-workers and supervisors. 8. Maintains recall reports and waitlists in order to fill physicians’ clinic schedules 1. Appointment Scheduling a. Reviews the schedule status daily for the remainder of the week and the following two weeks. b. Schedules all appointments with the appropriate physician to ensure top quality care to patients (see desktop provider procedures cheat sheet). c. Monitor your assigned Dr.’s schedule to ensure effective flow of clinic. d. Cancels and reschedules appointments, as necessary; follows-up on no shows. e. Monitors and modifies the physicians’ daily schedules, work waitlists and recall lists to ensure maximum capacity of physicians’ schedules. f. Verify insurance and obtain authorizations as per carrier requirements (see desktop physicians directory cheat sheet). g. Bad debts rectified prior to scheduling patients. h. Accept and follow through with electronic referrals. 3. Miscellaneous Duties a. Assists in general office duties and other duties, as required. b. Verify insurance
